Steps

  1. Wire the gateway (e.g. YDWG-02 WiFi, YDNU-02 USB) onto the NMEA 2000/SeaTalkNG/SimNet backbone
  2. Connect to the gateway's built-in admin web server to configure one or more NMEA Data Servers, each independently set to TCP or UDP transport
  3. For widest app compatibility, configure a server with the NMEA 0183 protocol output
  4. For full raw access including manufacturer-proprietary PGNs, configure a server with the RAW protocol and consult the exact wire-format appendix in that specific product's PDF manual
  5. Use the free CAN Log Viewer utility to monitor traffic live or record to a .CAN file, converting recordings with the YDVR Converter tool for GPX/CSV analysis
  6. Apply per-server message filters to control which PGNs/sentences are forwarded to each connected client
