Steps

1. Confirm the project triggers special inspection of penetration firestops and reference ASTM E2174 explicitly in the inspection agreement.
2. Engage a qualified, independent inspection agency familiar with E2174 methodology, noting the practice verifies as-installed conditions against inspection documents rather than selecting products or installers.
3. Provide the inspector the approved submittals (listed systems, EJs) as the 'inspection documents' baseline for compliance checks.
4. Have the inspector document each penetration's system identification, dimensions, and any deficiencies against the listed or judged detail.
