Steps
Contact a Hivestack (now Perion DOOH) representative to be onboarded as a demand or supply partner and receive an access_key/secret_key pair — no self-serve signup
Authenticate every request via the hs-auth header set to 'apikey <access_key>:<secret_key>' (or an apikey query parameter)
Implement bid request/response handling per Hivestack's OpenRTB documentation, which layers minimal extensions on standard OpenRTB 2.5
For SSP-side workflows, use the versioned Deals and Creative Submission REST API, appending version=2 to requests (v1 is deprecated and is the silent default)
Optionally pull full inventory listings (Excel/JSON) from Hivestack's published inventory files rather than crawling the API
Known gotchas
Hivestack was acquired by Perion (deal announced Dec 2023); the docs portal at docs.hivestack.com is now branded 'Perion DOOH' — same domain, different corporate identity
v1 of the DSP API is deprecated but remains the default unless version=2 is explicitly passed, so it's easy to silently integrate against the old version
Field names changed between v1 and v2 (e.g. media_owner_id → seller_id, start_from → flight_from), so migrating existing integrations requires care
