Open the NOAA Fisheries Public Permit Lookup tool at fisheries.noaa.gov/data-tools/public-permit-lookup for a web-based search of active permit holders (vessel, dealer, operator).
Alternatively, go to the GARFO Fish Online Commercial Permits Data Reports page to download bulk permit data files (vessel, dealer, operator, tuna permits) in XLS/CSV format.
Filter/search by permit number, vessel name, or permit category depending on which tool is used.
Cross-reference the separate Highly Migratory Species (HMS) open-access vessel permit dataset if the vessel/fishery in question involves tuna, swordfish, billfish, or shark permits, since those are tracked in a distinct system.
