Steps
Use your existing Amazon Ads API access token (agencies, partners, or direct advertisers integrated with the Ads API are eligible) to authenticate Marketing Stream setup calls.
Provide AWS account details to establish the delivery destination, choosing either Amazon SQS or Kinesis Data Firehose as the ingestion mechanism.
Create a subscription to the specific campaign dataset(s) you want streamed, such as sponsored ads traffic or conversion datasets.
Configure your AWS-side consumer (SQS queue or Firehose delivery stream) to receive and process the pushed JSON messages, which follow documented, versioned schemas.
Monitor delivery for gaps or throttling and adjust consumer throughput, since Marketing Stream pushes data on an hourly, near-real-time cadence rather than a pull/polling model.
Known gotchas
Marketing Stream is push-based, not pull — there's no API call to 'fetch missed messages'; if your AWS consumer is down, you must rely on SQS/Firehose retention windows to avoid permanent gaps.
Eligibility is currently limited to agencies, partners, and direct advertisers already integrated with the Ads API — it is not available as a fully standalone product.
A misconfigured AWS region or queue permissions is a common failure mode; the subscription can show as active while no messages actually arrive.
