Steps
Register at dev.kone.com and create a Sandbox application under the Operational APIs product to get CLIENT_ID/CLIENT_SECRET
Fetch an access token scoped for Operational APIs
Look up the KONE Equipment Number (KEN, formatted like ken:38999833) for the target elevator or escalator
Call the Equipment Status API's 'get equipment availability' endpoint for last-known availability, and 'get equipment status' for current operating status
Known gotchas
Equipment Status API covers KONE and non-KONE equipment that has been onboarded to KONE's monitoring, not every elevator globally
Availability status is 'last known', so it can lag if the equipment has lost connectivity
