Steps

  1. Have a competent person determine before each shift, and continuously, whether storm or high-wind conditions make scaffold work unsafe
  2. Do not permit work on a scaffold covered with snow, ice, or other slippery material until it is removed, sanded, or otherwise treated
  3. If wind screens or tarps are used, confirm the scaffold has been secured against the anticipated wind forces they will impose, since screens are prohibited unless this is done
  4. For work continuing in marginal conditions, ensure personal fall arrest systems are used as the competent person directs
  5. Stop work and evacuate the scaffold when the competent person determines conditions are unsafe, and document the determination
