Search nationalboard.org's Commissioned Inspectors section, which explains the Inservice Inspector (IS) and Authorized Inspector (AI) commission types and the NB-263/RCI-1 qualification rules
Note that this section describes how commissions are earned and renewed (annual Commission Card) but does not expose a public, individual-level lookup tool
Cross-check whether the inspector's employing Authorized Inspection Agency (listed in the National Board's AIA directory) can independently confirm the individual's active commission
If independent verification is required for a contract or audit, request the inspector's Commission Card directly and confirm with the issuing AIA or jurisdiction rather than searching for a public database
Report as an honest negative if no public per-inspector lookup exists at the time of the check — do not substitute the company-level Manufacturer & Repair Directory as a stand-in for individual verification
