Navigate to the ASME Certificate Holder Search at caconnect.asme.org/directory
Search by company name, location, or certificate type to find certificate number, scope, authorization date, and expiration date
Cross-reference the scope of the certificate (e.g., U for pressure vessels, S for power boilers, PP for pressure piping) against the actual product being procured, since a company can hold one stamp type without holding others
Confirm the certificate has not expired by checking the listed expiration date, not just its presence in the directory
If the company cannot be found, try partial-name search terms since legal entity names on file may differ from trade names used publicly
Known gotchas
A listed certificate confirms ASME accreditation of the quality system at the time of issuance/renewal — it does not certify every individual weld or product; NBIC/National Board data reports remain the traceability record for individual vessels
