Steps

  1. Determine if the unit already reaches the required load level during normal monthly exercise — if not, supplemental load-bank testing is required.
  2. Run the annual supplemental load-bank test per the load-bank protocol applicable to the system's classification and the NFPA 110 edition the AHJ has adopted.
  3. Ensure load-bank test procedures allow automatic transfer back to real building load if a genuine normal-power failure occurs during the test.
  4. Record test parameters (load level, duration, temperatures, pressures) and retain them as part of the on-site EPSS maintenance record.
  5. For Level 1 systems, track the separate multi-year full load-bank test interval requirement, since it is distinct from the annual supplemental test.
