Documented steps Ensure you are a team admin of the organization whose teams you are managing Add a user to a team: npm team add @org:newteam username — success prints 'username added to @org:newteam' Remove a user: npm team rm @org:newteam username — success prints 'username removed from @org:newteam' List all teams in an org: npm team ls @org (shows every team under the org) List all members of one team: npm team ls @org:newteam Pass --otp <code> when 2FA is enabled, or npm will prompt for a second factor
Known gotchas Always qualify the team as @scope:team; operating on an org name lists teams, operating on a team lists its members Two-factor: provide --otp or npm runs an interactive second-factor prompt which fails in non-interactive/CI contexts Only team admins can add/remove members; any org member can list npm team only manages membership — use npm access to grant/revoke package publish permissions for a team
