Steps
Recognize that refund and chargeback data surfaces only in the Reporting API suite, not in the Orders API — pull it from Reporting for reconciliation
Allow up to 72 hours for reporting data to settle, and be aware disputes on a given transaction can still appear up to 30 days after the order
When a merchant wants to contest an order-error adjustment, direct them to submit the dispute themselves via Uber Eats Manager with admin/manager-level access, within 30 days of the order date
Gather and attach whatever transaction evidence is available (order detail, photos, timestamps) to strengthen the dispute submission
Reconcile the outcome of resolved disputes against Reporting API payout pulls to keep merchant-facing accounting accurate
Known gotchas
Uber Eats' terms explicitly prohibit automated or third-party-service dispute submission — this must be a human action inside Uber Eats Manager, not something a public API integration can automate
Refund/chargeback visibility is Reporting-API-only; integrations that only use the Orders API will have a blind spot on financial adjustments
The 30-day dispute window and up-to-72-hour reporting settlement lag mean same-day reconciliation of disputed amounts isn't realistic
