Steps
Limit platform width to 36 inches unless a qualified person designs a wider platform to prevent instability, per 1926.452(p)(1)
Fasten the platform securely to hangers/stirrups by U-bolts or an equivalent means satisfying 1926.451(a)
Stabilize outrigger beam inboard ends by direct connection to the structure or by counterweights; if not directly connected, install tiebacks equivalent in strength to the suspension ropes, secured to structurally sound anchorage, not standpipes, vents, piping, or conduit
Install tiebacks perpendicular to the building face, or use opposing angle tiebacks — a single tieback installed at an angle is prohibited
Ensure both a guardrail system and a personal fall arrest system are provided for each employee per 1926.451(g)(1)
Verify platform listing requirements: light-metal platforms rated 750 lb or less, or 40 feet or less in length, must be tested and listed by a nationally recognized testing laboratory
