Steps

1. Segregate oxidizers (chlorine products) from acids (muriatic/dry acid) and from other reducing agents at all times — never store or transport them in contact, since acid-chlorine contact can generate chlorine gas and combustion risk
2. Keep chemicals in their original, labeled, corrosion-resistant containers with GHS-compliant labeling intact, and maintain accessible safety data sheets (SDS) for every chemical carried or stored, per OSHA Hazard Communication Standard requirements
3. Store chemicals in a well-ventilated area within the manufacturer's specified temperature range, off direct floor contact where flooding/moisture risk exists, and away from ignition sources
4. Use separate, clearly labeled physical separation or secondary containment for incompatible chemical classes, and never mix leftover/unknown chemicals when disposing of them
5. Follow OSHA PPE and handling requirements when transferring or mixing chemicals (eye protection, gloves, and, for concentrated acid/chlorine handling, appropriate respiratory protection where required)
6. Transport chemicals in a vehicle in a way that keeps oxidizers and acids physically separated and secured against tipping/leaking, applying the same segregation principle used in fixed storage
