Whenever you (mover or broker) provide a written estimate to a shipper of household goods for an interstate move, include the current 'Ready to Move? Tips for a Successful Interstate Move' brochure or a link to it
Provide it alongside, not instead of, the 'Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move' booklet — both consumer publications are required together
If your company has a website, display a prominent link to the FMCSA brochure (or a true, accurate copy of it) so prospective customers can access it before contacting you
Document that the brochure was provided (receipt, email log, or link-click confirmation) as part of your estimate file
Retrain sales/estimating staff whenever FMCSA issues an updated brochure so the current version is what's actually being handed out
Known gotchas
Providing the brochure only after the estimate is signed does not satisfy the rule — it must accompany the written estimate itself
