Documented steps

  1. Fetch the maintained AIStor Client binary from https://dl.min.io/aistor/mc/release (e.g. linux-amd64/mc, darwin-arm64/mc, windows-amd64/mc.exe) and chmod +x it. Do NOT download from github.com/minio/mc/releases - that repository is archived and no longer ships releases.
  2. On systems where the command name 'mc' conflicts with another tool (e.g. Midnight Commander on Debian/Ubuntu), the binary installs/invokes as 'mcli' - substitute mcli for mc in every command.
  3. Configure the endpoint: mc alias set <ALIAS> https://<host-or-ip> <ACCESS_KEY> <SECRET_KEY> (secret key must be at least 8 characters). Aliases are stored in ~/.mc/config.json.
  4. Verify connectivity: mc ls <ALIAS> lists buckets, or mc admin info <ALIAS> shows cluster health.
  5. Keep the client version close to your server release date to avoid version-skew warnings.
