Documented steps

  1. Download the mc (or mcli) client binary for your OS from the MinIO dl site and make it executable.
  2. Run mc alias set ALIAS ENDPOINT ACCESS_KEY SECRET_KEY with the server URL, access key, and secret key; example: mc alias set myminio https://play.min.io ACCESS SECRET.
  3. For local MinIO use http://localhost:9000 as the endpoint; for S3 use the regional s3.amazonaws.com endpoint.
  4. Test the connection with mc admin info ALIAS or mc ls ALIAS.
  5. To bypass TLS verification against a self-signed endpoint, add --insecure to the alias set command.
