Steps
Confirm you're using the Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM), 15th Edition — released by BICSI on January 25, 2024, as the current edition.
Note that the RCDD exam has been based on the TDMM 15th Edition material since July 1, 2024 — earlier editions (e.g., 14th) no longer reflect current exam content.
Work through the 15th edition's 22 chapters (spanning roughly 2,000+ pages across two volumes), paying particular attention to newly added/updated content: single-pair Ethernet, 28 AWG patch cords, SC/APC fiber connectors, fault-managed power circuits, and the new wireless-networks chapter.
Pair TDMM study with the current RCDD Certification Handbook for the latest exam eligibility and policy details, since handbook versions update independently of the manual edition.
If studying from older notes/courses, verify they've been updated to the 15th edition, since content and chapter numbering changed enough between the 14th and 15th editions to matter for exam prep.
Known gotchas
Using outdated 14th-edition study material after July 2024 risks studying content that's no longer aligned with the current exam.
The TDMM is BICSI's design-focused manual for RCDD; it's a different document from the ITSIMM used for the Installer/Technician installation-track exams — don't conflate the two when prepping.
