Steps Complete CN eBusiness registration and request the relevant API products as with CN's shipment-status APIs. Call GEO Bill of Lading Information for parties, origin/destination, commodity, and shipper reference numbers. Call GEO Estimated Time of Arrival for ETA at an interchange point, rail destination, or customer industry. For parties not on the waybill (e.g., a 3PL), use Third Party IM Tracking to get ETA, weight, and last event for active intermodal shipments. Use the Carbon Calculator API if you also need estimated emissions across the vessel-to-rail-to-truck movement.
Known gotchas Third Party IM Tracking is scoped to intermodal shipments only - it will not return carload/merchandise data for non-waybill parties. These APIs supplement, but do not fully replace, CN's EDI 214/322/CLM feeds - confirm which event source your integration actually needs.
