Steps
Use only Class 2 power-limited cable listed for the application on the load side of the Class 2 power source, sized no smaller than 18 AWG for the connected load.
Route the Class 2 cable using an applicable wiring method from the general wiring chapter plus the Class 2 circuit requirements referenced by Article 600, or per the sign manufacturer's listed installation instructions.
In wet locations, use Class 2 cable identified for wet-location use or with a moisture-impervious metal sheath.
Support exposed Class 2 cable on ceilings or sidewalls with straps, staples, hangers, or cable ties that don't damage the cable, and protect it where it runs through framing members.
Comply with NEC 600.7 for equipment grounding and bonding of the LED sign wiring, since Class 2 LED sign circuits are not exempt from bonding the way many other Class 2 systems are.
Known gotchas
Don't assume Class 2 wiring is exempt from grounding and bonding rules; NEC 600.7 specifically pulls LED sign secondary circuits back into bonding requirements most other Class 2 systems don't have.
Using cable not listed for wet locations on an exterior sign is a common inspection failure, even when the cable is otherwise correctly rated Class 2 for the load.
