Steps
Subscribe to a Rentometer Pro plan to receive API access and an API key
Call GET https://www.rentometer.com/api/v1/nearby_comps with the address, bedroom count, and search radius as query parameters
Include the api_key parameter on every request as required by the API
Parse the returned list of nearby comparable rentals sorted by distance from the subject address
Track API credit consumption, since each nearby_comps address lookup consumes one Premium credit from the plan's allotment
Known gotchas
The API is explicitly documented as being in beta, so endpoint behavior and response fields are more likely to change than a stable v1 GA API
Each address lookup costs a Premium credit distinct from the consumer-facing Rentometer report credits — high-volume batch use can exhaust an API credit pool much faster than manual use would suggest
Comp density varies heavily by market; rural or low-turnover ZIP codes can return very few nearby comps even within a generous search radius
