Steps
Request API access/trial through First American Data & Analytics' sales team, since the API isn't self-serve sign-up.
Integrate the JSON-based API to query property address, ownership, characteristics, tax, foreclosure, and open-lien data.
Pull structured report types (e.g., TotalView, Legal & Vesting, Title Chain & Lien) rather than reassembling them from raw fields yourself.
Retrieve recorded document images/links (e.g., Last Transfer, Last Finance) and Assessor Maps tied to a property record.
Combine with the Procision AVM if you need an automated valuation alongside the property data.
Known gotchas
API access is provisioned through a sales/contact process, not open self-signup — plan lead time before you can start integrating.
Data and documents are added daily as new transactions/recordings occur, so treat responses as a point-in-time snapshot, not a guaranteed real-time feed.
Report types (TotalView, Legal & Vesting, etc.) are distinct licensed products — confirm which reports your contract includes before assuming a field is available.
