Steps
Confirm the field tester meets ANSI/TIA-1152-A accuracy requirements for the category being tested (Level III/IIIe for Cat6/6A); TIA-1152-A was reaffirmed as active via a 2025 ballot.
Test to the Permanent Link model in TIA-568.2-E (patch panel to outlet, excluding test-end patch cords) using the tester's autotest for the target category.
Ensure the autotest evaluates the full parameter set: wiremap, length, insertion loss, return loss, NEXT/PSNEXT, ACR-F, propagation delay/skew, and for Cat6A, alien crosstalk (PSANEXT, PSAACRF).
Verify every link result shows an unqualified PASS at the correct test limit for the cable category and link type before compiling the report.
Export/compile results into a vendor certification report package (e.g., LinkWare PC/Live for Fluke) that bundles project, cable ID, limit, and pass/fail summary for the customer.
Known gotchas
A "PASS*" result means the tester extrapolated beyond its measurement accuracy at some frequencies — treat it as a flag to re-test or note, not an unqualified pass.
If Cat6A alien crosstalk isn't part of the selected test plan, the report does not actually certify true Cat6A performance — confirm the correct test standard/limit was selected on the tester before running autotests.
