Generate an API access token (or use HTTPS authentication with your Moz access ID and secret key) from the Moz Pro API section of your account
Send a POST request to the Moz Links API v2 endpoint (lsapi.seomoz.com/v2/) with a JSON body specifying the target and the fields or metrics you want returned
Request Domain Authority (DA), Page Authority (PA), spam score, and link counts by including those metric names in the metrics array of your request body
For bulk queries, use the batch endpoint to submit multiple URLs in a single request rather than making individual calls, which is more efficient against rate limits
Parse the numeric metric values from the response; DA and PA are scored 1-100 on a logarithmic scale based on Moz's proprietary link index
Known gotchas
Domain Authority is a Moz-proprietary metric, not a Google metric; Google does not use DA in its ranking algorithm, and high DA does not directly correlate with Google ranking performance
Moz updates its DA scores periodically during index refreshes; a sudden drop in DA across many domains typically reflects an index update, not an actual change in link profile quality
Free API access has strict rate limits and a low monthly row cap; exceeding the free tier requires a paid Moz Pro subscription with API access specifically enabled
