Pull Trust Flow and Citation Flow backlink-quality metrics for a domain via the Majestic API

Steps
Register for Majestic API access and generate an API key from the account API page
Call GetIndexItemInfo with a target URL/domain and datasource (Fresh or Historic index) to retrieve Trust Flow and Citation Flow scores
Use GetTopPages or GetBackLinkData to pull the underlying backlink list supporting those scores
Compare Trust Flow (link-quality proximity to trusted seed sites) against Citation Flow (raw link-volume influence) to flag potentially spammy or purchased link profiles
Test integrations against Majestic's development sandbox and smaller test database before pointing at the production API and consuming paid credits
Known gotchas
Trust Flow and Citation Flow are Majestic-proprietary metrics, not used by any search engine — don't present them as Google ranking factors
API pulls are metered by Majestic's own credit/subscription system, separate from dashboard UI limits, and high-volume automation can exhaust a plan quickly
Fresh Index and Historic Index return different link data (recent crawl vs all-time); mixing them without labeling skews trend comparisons
