Call GET /v1/avm/rent/long-term with address, bedrooms, bathrooms, and squareFootage parameters to receive a rent estimate, estimate range, and confidence score
Retrieve the comps used in the estimate from the same response body under the comparables array; each comp includes address, rent, distance, and similarity score
For market-level rent trends, use GET /v1/markets with a zipCode or city/state to get median rent, inventory counts, and month-over-month change
For active rental listings near a subject property, query GET /v1/listings/rental/long-term with address and radius parameters

Known gotchas
Rent estimates are modeled values derived from comparable listings data, not appraisals; confidence scores vary significantly in low-density rental markets where comp data is thin
API calls are consumed per request regardless of whether a valid estimate is returned; empty responses for rural or unusual properties still count against your quota
RentCast covers U.S. residential long-term rentals primarily; short-term/vacation rental comps and commercial properties are outside the scope of the standard endpoints
