Authenticate with the company access token
Call the check-in endpoint against the relevant order/asset to process a return
Query the check-in/out history endpoint for a given asset to audit past rentals
Review returned condition or comment fields if damage or shortages need to be recorded
Update the asset's status (e.g., move to maintenance) if the return reveals a problem
Known gotchas
Check-in and checkout are distinct calls tied to the order/asset's current state, not a single toggle — calling the wrong one for its state returns an error
History records are asset-scoped, so auditing a whole multi-asset order means looping over each asset ID in it
