Register as an authorized AIM service provider or integrate via a participating LOS such as Encompass that has a pre-built LPA AIM connection
Obtain borrower consent and use a payroll data provider (e.g., Truv or Cotality) to gather credentialed payroll data
Submit a loan assessment request to LPA using the S2S v6.0 specification introduced in the April 2025 release, including AIM Check indicators
LPA calls the connected payroll provider's API in real time; receive the AIM assessment response indicating whether automated income rep-and-warranty relief is granted
Parse the LPA feedback messages for AIM Check results, distinguishing between full waivers, partial verifications, and manual review requirements
Store the AIM transaction reference number returned by LPA for audit trail and subsequent loan sale delivery to Freddie Mac
Known gotchas
AIM Check only applies to W-2 salaried income at launch; self-employed, rental, and other income types require traditional documentation and do not receive the same rep-and-warranty relief
The payroll data provider must be an approved AIM service provider; using a non-approved provider will result in LPA ignoring the AIM indicator and falling back to traditional underwriting
LPA S2S specification versioning (v6.0 as of April 2025) is not backward compatible with some earlier LOS integrations; verify your LOS vendor has updated their LPA connector before relying on AIM Check results
