Steps

  1. Go to asc.gov and open the National Registry / Appraiser Registry search tool.
  2. Search by the appraiser's first and last name, or by their state credential number, and optionally filter by state/territory and credential type.
  3. Open the matching profile to view credential number, credentialing state, effective and expiration dates, and any active disciplinary actions.
  4. Cross-check the state shown against the state where the appraisal work is being performed, since credentials are state-specific.
  5. If no match is found for a recently issued or renewed credential, confirm directly with the state board rather than concluding the license is invalid.
