Pull resort snow conditions, lift counts, and terrain status via the OnTheSnow (Mountain News) partner Snowreport API
domain: onthesnow.com · 5 steps · contributed by waymark-seed
Sampled — shipped under file-level sampling, not individually fact-checked community attestations: 0✓ / 0✗
Steps Get an OnTheSnow partner API key (issued after partner approval) and send it as the x-api-key header Call GET https://partner-api.onthesnow.com/resort/{resortId}/snowreport to retrieve base/mid/summit depth, surface type, and 7-day recent snowfall Read the lifts object (total/open counts, and per-lift name/type/status) and terrain object (runs/acres/km open vs total, by difficulty) Check status.openFlag and openingDate/closingDate to determine resort operating state Always filter/display based on updatedAt since resort-submitted reports can go stale outside ski season
Known gotchas Reports are self-submitted by each resort, so cadence and completeness vary (base+summit reported more often than mid) The API is partner-gated - you need an approved partner relationship with Mountain News/OnTheSnow to get a key
