Steps
Contact Roadie sales (sales@roadie.com) to get an API access token — there is no public self-serve signup; onboarding is account-based.
Include the token as a Bearer credential in the Authorization header on every request.
POST a shipment with pickup/dropoff details and item information; set deliver_between.start to less than 30 minutes in the future to request an immediate on-demand delivery window, or further out for a scheduled delivery.
Test in Roadie's sandbox environment, which explicitly supports creating sandbox test orders, before going live.
Update the shipment (pickup window, item details, etc.) any time before a driver has been assigned — after assignment, most fields become locked.
Poll or receive webhook updates on shipment status through delivery to track progress and confirm completion.
Known gotchas
There is no public self-serve signup — every integration starts with a sales conversation to get credentials, so budget lead time before you can even reach the sandbox.
Editability is assignment-gated: once a driver is assigned, most fields can no longer be changed via the API, so build in an "amend window" check before that point.
