Steps
Go to NCCCO's Verify CCO Online (VCO) system, reachable from nccco.org or verifycco.org
Register for a free VCO account if the employer or requester has not already done so
Enter the individual's name and the certification number printed on the front of their CCO card
Review the single-screen result showing all associated certification categories/designations and their expiration dates
Re-check status periodically (e.g., before each project mobilization) rather than relying on a card's printed expiration date alone, since certifications can be suspended or revoked before expiration
Known gotchas
A physical CCO card being unexpired does not guarantee the certification is still in good standing — always cross-check against VCO, which reflects current status including any suspensions
VCO requires the certification number from the card; without it, verification by name alone may not be reliable
