Use the NID public FeatureServer at https://geospatial.sec.usace.army.mil/dls/rest/services/NID/National_Inventory_of_Dams_Public_Service/FeatureServer to query dams by spatial extent or attribute filters
Call the /query endpoint with a bbox or point-radius geometry to return dam records (hazard classification, condition assessment, owner type) near a project site
Use the companion MapServer to export a map image (PNG/PDF) of nearby dams when a visual is needed alongside the tabular data
Check the hazard potential classification field to flag sites downstream of high-hazard-potential dams for additional due diligence
