Confirm the Gold Label program is a third-party testing and ongoing plant-inspection program (in place since 1962) verifying air infiltration, water penetration, and structural/wind-load performance for windows, doors, and skylights
Use the Certified Products Directory Search to look up the product by manufacturer, performance class, or framing material, and compare the returned certification number and performance ratings against the physical Gold/Silver label on the unit (typically affixed to the frame/sash inside edge)
Confirm the label's printed manufacturer name, certification number, and air/water/structural ratings match both the directory entry and the project's submitted product data sheet
Note FGIA was formed by the 2020 merger of AAMA and IGMA, so older 'AAMA-only' branding on legacy labels or literature is historically accurate but the current administering body is FGIA

Known gotchas

A physical Gold/Silver label alone is not sufficient verification — it must be cross-checked against the live FGIA Certified Products Directory entry, since labels can be misapplied, counterfeited, or reflect a discontinued certification
Because AAMA and IGMA merged into FGIA in 2020, some manufacturer literature or older submittals may still reference 'AAMA Certified' terminology; this is not itself disqualifying, but current verification should be run through FGIA's present-day directory, not an old standalone AAMA site
