Understand F1869 measures moisture vapor emission rate (MVER) from the top of the slab, a different measurement than F2170's in-situ RH at depth — the two are not interchangeable or directly convertible.
Confirm the substrate is not lightweight aggregate concrete before specifying F1869 — the standard disallows calcium chloride testing on lightweight concrete.
Follow the standard's minimum slab age, ambient conditioning, and undisturbed test duration (commonly cited around 60-72 hours) exactly; deviations invalidate results.
Compare the result (lbs/1000 sq ft/24 hr) against the specific flooring or coating manufacturer's stated MVER threshold, not a generic industry number.
