Steps
Wire CZone output interfaces and display/keypad devices onto a standard NMEA 2000 backbone using Micro cables/connectors
Obtain a confirmed-supported USB-to-CAN adapter (e.g. a Kvaser Leaf Lite or Mastervolt USB-to-CAN interface) to connect a Windows PC to the network
Install the CZone Configuration Tool and build/upload a configuration defining circuits, modes, and which devices control or monitor which loads
To read circuit/status data programmatically, decode the manufacturer-proprietary PGNs (in the 65280-65535 range) using community reverse-engineered references, treating field semantics as inferred rather than authoritative
For remote/wireless monitoring without a chartplotter, add a CZone Wireless Interface exposing a control homepage over Ethernet
Known gotchas
CZone's control PGNs are proprietary and not officially published by BEP/Navico; only community reverse-engineered documentation exists, with explicitly unverified field semantics
Practical third-party switching control is largely limited to devices with a commercial partnership (e.g. Simrad MFDs, now under the same Navico Group ownership), which is a business constraint as much as a technical one
The Configuration Tool only works with a short list of supported USB-CAN adapters; using an unsupported generic adapter is a common real-world failure point
