2. Confirm the MTR must report heat/chemical analysis (carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, etc. as applicable to the grade) and mechanical tension-test results (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation with gauge length noted)
3. Confirm the MTR must also identify heat number, size/thickness, grade/designation, and producer identification sufficient to trace the specific heat/lot to the physical material delivered
4. Verify any heat-treatment operations performed on the material (when required by the grade or purchase order) are reported on the MTR
5. Cross-check the actual purchase order and project specification for any additional testing or reporting requirements beyond the A6/A709 baseline (e.g., Charpy V-notch toughness for fracture-critical bridge members), since these are often added by the DOT or engineer, not by A6/A709 alone
