Documented steps
Run mc diff SOURCE TARGET where either side can be a local path or a bucket alias/path.
Read the legend: '<' means the object exists only in source, '>' means only in destination, and '!' means a newer object is in source.
Use it to verify a mirror or sync operation by comparing a local folder to a bucket, for example mc diff ~/Photos s3/mybucket/Photos.
Known gotchas
mc diff compares object NAME, SIZE, and MODIFICATION TIME only. It does NOT compare object contents or checksums, so two objects with identical name/size/time are treated as equal even if bytes differ.
Because it is metadata-based you cannot rely on it to prove byte-for-byte integrity.
