Assemble the written notifications and documentation a controlling contractor should have on hand to demonstrate Subpart R compliance during an OSHA inspection or internal audit

Steps

1. Retain the written notification of concrete/masonry compressive strength (or sufficient strength) given to the steel erector before erection began, per 1926.752(a).
2. Retain records of any anchor rod repair, replacement, or field modification and the written notice given to the erector before the affected column was erected, per 1926.755(b).
3. Keep the site-specific erection plan (where one was required due to alternate means/methods) and pre-erection/pre-construction conference records showing site layout, access roads, and staging areas per 1926.752.
4. Maintain training documentation for connectors, multiple-lift, and CDZ-exposed employees per 1926.761, along with crane operator certification/evaluation records per 1926.1427 and signal person qualification documentation per 1926.1428.
5. Reference OSHA's steel erection inspection directive (CPL 02-01-034) to understand what compliance officers specifically check for during a Subpart R inspection, and self-audit against that checklist beforehand.
