Steps
Contact PAR's API support team to be issued an AccessToken and LocationToken per integrator/per location — there's no self-serve signup
Retrieve current menu/pricing configuration via the Settings SOAP service
Submit an order using the SubmitOrder operation on the Ordering service, following the WSDL's exact field ordering
Retrieve submitted/historical orders via GetOrders on the Sales service for reconciliation
Respect PAR's enforced call-frequency limits (a handful of concurrent calls with multi-minute sleep windows) to avoid throttling
Known gotchas
The API is SOAP/XML with strict WSDL field-ordering requirements — malformed field order causes silent failures, not just errors
If "Accept Orders When Master Offline" is enabled, the API can return a success result code for an order that never actually reaches the physical register
