Navigate to the Texas SOS Notary Search at direct.sos.state.tx.us/notaries/NotarySearch.asp (also reachable via the SOSDirect portal at texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com/sos-direct).
Search by last name, first name, or a combination of fields; partial text matches are permitted for first/last name.
Note that a single search returns a maximum of 100 records, so overly broad queries (e.g., common surnames) will be truncated.
If a record cannot be located through the tool, contact the Notary Public Unit directly at (512) 463-5705 for manual confirmation.
Treat this as a web-form-only verification path (no documented REST API) — do not attempt to script it as if it were an open API; use the data.texas.gov Socrata dataset instead for bulk/programmatic needs.
