Steps

2. Install the flow cell per manufacturer instructions in a location with representative, consistent flow (typically after the filter, before the heater) so ORP/pH readings reflect actual pool conditions
3. Calibrate pH and ORP probes against known buffer/reference solutions at installation and on the manufacturer's recommended recalibration schedule, since probe drift is a common source of over/under-dosing
4. Set ORP and pH setpoints to match the facility's target ranges under the governing health code, since commercial codes typically specify both a minimum ORP and a chlorine/pH range, not ORP alone
5. Configure chemical feed pump interlocks (flow switch, high/low alarm limits) so feeders shut down automatically if flow stops or a probe reads out of expected range, preventing overfeed
6. Establish a routine probe cleaning/replacement and manual chemistry verification schedule, since automated controllers should supplement, not replace, manual test confirmation
