2. Confirm raised-character requirements: sans-serif, non-italic/non-script characters raised at least 1/32 inch above the background, with letter-width and line-spacing proportions meeting the standard's ratios
3. Confirm Braille requirements: Grade 2 (contracted) Braille with domed/rounded dots per the standard's dot-spacing table, positioned below the corresponding tactile text with the required minimum separation from other tactile elements or borders
4. Confirm mounting location: tactile characters generally must be centered between 48 inches minimum and 60 inches maximum above the floor, measured from the baseline of the lowest to highest character, and located on the latch side of the door where applicable
5. Check whether the local building code has also adopted an equivalent accessibility standard (e.g., an ICC A117.1-based state code) that may impose additional or slightly different requirements alongside the ADA Standards
