Known gotchas

Connecticut's Home Improvement Act registration is a registration, not a trade-skill license — a valid CT HIC registration confirms insurance/registration compliance, not competency testing, unlike some other states' contractor boards
HIC and New Home Construction Contractor are two different CT license types on the same eLicense platform — searching the wrong type will return no results even for a legitimately registered contractor
