Check whether a commercial client's property already has an NPDES stormwater discharge permit on file before quoting a pressure-washing job that will generate wastewater runoff

Steps

1. Use the Wastewater/Stormwater/Biosolids Facility Search REST service, part of ECHO's public web services, to query facilities by name, address, or location.
2. Send the documented GET request and parse the returned facility list (JSON, XML, or JSONP) for matches to the client's property.
3. For a matched facility, note its NPDES permit ID and current permit/compliance status returned by the search.
4. Cross-check whether the facility is covered under an industrial stormwater general permit if the site handles material storage or heavy runoff.
5. Use the finding to decide whether the crew needs containment/berming for wash water or whether the client's existing permit already addresses discharge.
