Upload trade documents (commercial invoice, certificate of origin, export license, etc.) for a UPS international shipment using the Paperless Documents API

Steps

1. Generate the required document (commercial invoice, certificate of origin, authorization form, export license, etc.) as a supported file type and encode it per the API's upload requirements.
2. Call the Paperless Documents /upload endpoint with the document details — file name, file format, and document type code — to register the document with UPS and receive a document ID.
3. Alternatively, use the /image endpoint to upload a supporting document image tied to the shipment.
4. Associate the uploaded document ID(s) with your shipment identification number from your manifesting/shipment-creation call so UPS operations and customs can retrieve them together.
5. If a document was uploaded in error, call the /delete endpoint to remove it before the shipment is processed.
6. Confirm total attachments stay within UPS's per-shipment file limits before submission.
