Steps
Confirm your use case against the current split APIs (Business Information, Account Management, Performance, Verifications) rather than the retired monolithic v4 My Business API
Apply for Business Profile API access through Google's access request process — access is allowlisted, not self-serve like most Cloud APIs
Use the Business Information API to read/write core location data (name, address, hours, categories, attributes)
Use the Business Profile Performance API's fetchMultiDailyMetricsTimeSeries method to pull multiple metrics in one call instead of the deprecated per-metric v4 methods
Remove any Q&A API integration — it was discontinued November 3, 2025 in favor of Ask Maps/Gemini-driven Q&A
Re-test OAuth scopes and endpoint paths, since the v4-to-current split is not backward compatible
Known gotchas
API access approval can take days to weeks; don't assume you can start integrating the same day you apply
Endpoint URLs and method names changed completely between old v4 and the current split APIs — old code will 404, not silently degrade
Some legacy sub-APIs (e.g., InsuranceNetworks, HealthProviderAttributes) were deprecated in mid-2024; verify your vertical's fields still exist before building on them
