Steps Confirm the Circle community is on a Business plan or above, since Admin/Headless API access is gated by plan tier. Generate an Admin API token from Developers > Tokens in the Circle admin panel. Authenticate requests to the v2 Admin API (api.circle.so / api-headless.circle.so) with the token as a Bearer credential. List, search, and update members (including tagging and profile fields) via the members endpoints in the Admin API v2 reference. Create or configure spaces (community sub-areas) via the spaces endpoints for programmatic community structure management. Note Circle's original 'Public API' is now frozen as 'Admin API v1' (bug-fix-only); build new integrations against v2.
Known gotchas v1 (frozen/legacy) and v2 (actively developed) are different generations with different bases and shapes — don't mix documentation between them. Admin API access requires Business tier or higher regardless of token validity — a valid-looking token on a lower plan will not work. The Admin API is explicitly not meant for client-side use since it carries full admin privileges — use the Headless API for anything user-facing.
