Documented steps
Create an individual EU Login account, log into EPREL and accept the terms of service. EPREL accounts are organisational, not personal.
Create the supplier organisation and complete its general company information. The organisation starts with status UNVERIFIED.
Complete supplier verification: legal persons submit a qualified electronic seal plus business register number or ID; natural persons submit a qualified electronic signature matching their name and country, issued by a Qualified Trust Service Provider.
Download the EPREL-generated, Commission-sealed verification PDF, have the authorised representative seal or sign it electronically, then upload it back into EPREL to obtain the verification resolution.
Add brand and trademark information to the verified supplier profile before registering any models, to avoid inconsistencies later.
In the Compliance System, open the relevant product group homepage and choose NEW MODEL.
Enter the two mandatory fields, Brand/Trademark and Model identifier, and create the model. It is created with status INCOMPLETE.
Fill in every remaining mandatory technical documentation field for that product group through the side-panel sections.
Generate the energy label (use the EPREL-generated label or upload your own) and generate the Product Information Sheet in the required languages.
Generate the model's QR code using the dedicated action.
Publish the model. EPREL assigns the registration number and the model becomes visible to market surveillance authorities and to the public.

Known gotchas
Since 22 October 2024 (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/994, Article 3) only VERIFIED suppliers may register or edit models. Unverified suppliers' models are hidden from public search and QR lookup and excluded from API export, though market surveillance authorities still see them.
Verification requires a qualified electronic seal or signature from a Qualified Trust Service Provider. Procurement lead time for that credential is the usual cause of missed launch dates.
Suppliers inactive for more than one year lose verified status automatically and fall back to the unverified restrictions.
Registration must happen before the product is placed on the market. Models stay INCOMPLETE until every mandatory technical documentation field for the product group is filled.
Label, Product Information Sheet and QR code generation are separate explicit actions in the model record, not side effects of saving.
EPREL accounts belong to the supplier organisation, not to the individual. Do not conflate personal EU Login use with the legal entity's registration.
