Steps

1. Retrieve 29 CFR 1910.253(b)(4) directly from osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.253
2. Confirm subsection (b)(4)(iii): oxygen cylinders in storage must be separated from fuel-gas cylinders or combustible materials (especially oil or grease) by a minimum distance of 20 feet (6.1 m), OR by a noncombustible barrier at least 5 feet (1.5 m) high with a fire-resistance rating of at least one-half hour
3. Check the additional cylinder-handling provision requiring cylinders be kept far enough from actual welding/cutting operations that sparks, hot slag, or flame cannot reach them, or that fire-resistant shields be provided
4. If the shop uses an oxygen manifold system rather than individual cylinders, check the separate manifold-specific separation and capacity provisions in section (c), which carry different distance and capacity thresholds
5. Confirm which OSHA standard applies to the work being done — general industry (1910.253) vs. construction (1926.350), since construction sites use a parallel but separately numbered standard
